Description
Anusol HC suppositories contain hydrocortisone acetate, a mild corticosteroid, together with soothing and astringent ingredients including bismuth and zinc oxide. A suppository is inserted into the back passage, where it melts and delivers the medicine to internal haemorrhoids and the anal lining, reducing inflammation, swelling and itching.
They are used for internal haemorrhoids, itching around the anus, anal fissure and inflammation of the anal lining. One suppository is usually inserted morning and night and after a bowel movement. Wash your hands before and after, and it may help to lie on your side while inserting it. Because they contain a corticosteroid, they are used for a short course rather than continuously.
Tell your prescriber if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you notice bleeding that has not been assessed, or if symptoms persist after the course has finished.
