Description
Betnovate Scalp Application contains betamethasone valerate 0.1%, a potent topical corticosteroid, in a liquid base designed to spread through the hair. It is licensed for inflammatory scalp conditions that respond to steroids, including scalp psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and eczema of the scalp. A small amount is applied to the affected areas of the scalp and rubbed in gently, usually twice a day at first, then less often as the scalp improves.
Potent steroids are used in short courses, and long or repeated use can thin the skin, so treatment is reviewed. The base contains alcohol, so it is flammable: keep away from flames, cigarettes and other sources of ignition, and do not use near the eyes. Tell your prescriber if the scalp is infected, if the skin is broken, or if the condition does not improve.
