Description

Elleste Duet is a sequential combined hormone replacement therapy. Each 28-day cycle begins with tablets containing estradiol alone, followed by tablets containing estradiol with a progestogen, which protects the lining of the womb. Tablets are taken in the order set out on the pack, one each day with no break between cycles, and a bleed is usually expected towards the end of each cycle.

This type of HRT suits women who are still having periods or whose periods stopped recently, rather than those who are some years past the menopause. It carries small increases in the risk of breast cancer, blood clots in the legs and lungs, and stroke, which depend on your age, your history and how long you take it. It is not a contraceptive.

Tell your prescriber about bleeding that is heavy, unexpected or continues after the treatment settles.
