Description
HuxD3 3,200 IU capsules contain colecalciferol, which is vitamin D3. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium from the diet, and colecalciferol at this strength is used where a measured daily amount of vitamin D is needed, including in the correction and prevention of vitamin D deficiency. Each capsule provides 3,200 international units, which the product name gives as 80 micrograms.
The capsule is swallowed whole with water; it is not chewed or opened. The number of capsules and the length of the course are set by the prescriber or by the pack, and the stated amount should not be exceeded, because vitamin D is stored in the body and too much over time can raise the calcium level in the blood. Tell your prescriber if you have kidney disease or kidney stones, sarcoidosis, or a raised calcium level, if you take a thiazide diuretic or digoxin, or if you take any other product containing vitamin D or calcium.
