Description
Imodium Instants contain loperamide hydrochloride and are used for the short term treatment of sudden, short lasting diarrhoea in adults and children over twelve. Loperamide slows the movement of the gut, which allows more water to be absorbed and makes stools firmer and less frequent. The tablet is placed on the tongue, where it dissolves within seconds, and is swallowed without water.
The pack states the starting dose, the dose after each loose stool and the maximum in twenty four hours, and that maximum must not be exceeded. Drinking enough fluid matters as much as the tablets. Do not use it if there is blood in the stool or a high fever, and see a doctor if diarrhoea lasts more than forty eight hours.
