Description
Nebivolol is a beta-blocker. It slows the heart and reduces the force of each beat, and it also has an effect that helps blood vessels relax, which together lower blood pressure. It is licensed for essential high blood pressure and, at lower doses, as an add-on treatment for stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure in older adults.
The tablet is taken once daily, at about the same time each day, with or without food. Do not stop taking a beta-blocker suddenly, because stopping abruptly can make heart symptoms worse; your prescriber will reduce it gradually if it needs to be stopped. Tiredness, headache, dizziness and slow heart rate are recognised effects.
Tell your prescriber if you have asthma or other wheezing lung conditions, poor circulation in the hands and feet, diabetes, a slow or irregular heartbeat, or liver problems.
