Description
A tablet cutter that holds a tablet in a V shaped cradle so a blade can divide it in a single downward movement of the lid. It is used when a prescribed dose is half a tablet, or when a whole tablet is difficult to swallow. Not every tablet may be cut. Modified release and enteric coated tablets, and capsules, are generally not suitable, and cutting them can change how the medicine is absorbed, so check with a pharmacist before dividing anything.
Halves are rarely exactly equal, which matters more for some medicines than others. Keep the cutter closed and out of reach of children, since the blade is sharp, and clean it between different medicines.
