Description
Octenisan Wash Lotion is an antimicrobial wash for the skin and scalp, containing octenidine. It is used in place of ordinary soap or shower gel to reduce the bacteria carried on the skin, which is why it is often used as part of a decolonisation routine before surgery or where a person is known to carry a resistant organism.
It is also sometimes advised for skin that becomes infected repeatedly, as happens with eczema that is regularly broken by scratching. Apply it to wet skin and hair, leave it in place for the time stated on the pack, then rinse thoroughly. Keep it out of the eyes and ears. It is not a treatment for eczema itself, and it does not replace an emollient or any prescribed treatment.
