Description
This is the 50ml size of the sea water nasal spray for congestion, supplied as a device rather than as a licensed medicine. The solution is hypertonic, so its salt concentration is higher than that of the fluid in the nasal lining, and it works by drawing water out of the swollen tissue so that a blocked nose opens. No decongestant drug is involved, which means there is no seven day limit and no rebound congestion when it is stopped.
It is sprayed into each nostril as the instructions direct, and the nose is then blown gently. Stinging for a moment after spraying is usual with a hypertonic solution. Keep the bottle to one person. Speak to a pharmacist before using it in pregnancy or for a young child, and see a doctor about congestion with facial pain and fever.
