Description
Emery boards are card nail files coated with abrasive on both faces, supplied three to a pack. They are used to shape the free edge of the nail and to smooth a rough or snagged edge without cutting. File in one direction along the edge rather than sawing back and forth, as a sawing action tends to split the layers of the nail, and shape the edge to follow the curve of the fingertip.
A finer face is used to finish the edge after the shape is set. Use on dry nails. Boards of this kind wear out with use and are not designed to be washed, so replace them once the abrasive stops cutting. Do not share nail files between people.
