Description
A spacer, or holding chamber, used with a pressurised metered dose inhaler. The inhaler fits into one end and the chamber holds the puff of medicine for a few seconds, so it can be breathed in steadily rather than having to be timed with pressing the canister. This helps more of the dose reach the lungs and less of it settle in the mouth and throat.
Shake the inhaler, fire one puff at a time into the chamber and breathe in slowly, repeating the breaths if using a mask. Wash in warm soapy water and leave it to air dry rather than rubbing it, as rubbing builds up static. Check the inhaler fits the chamber before use.
