Description
Amorolfine 5% w/v is an antifungal nail lacquer. It is used for fungal infection of the fingernails and toenails caused by dermatophytes, yeasts and moulds, where the infection has not reached the base of the nail and only a limited number of nails are affected. Before each application, file down the affected part of the nail, then clean the nail surface with an alcohol swab; apply the lacquer across the whole nail and let it dry.
Use a separate file for infected nails and do not use that file on healthy ones. Treatment continues over many months, because it lasts until the nail has grown out, and toenails take longer than fingernails. Do not use nail varnish or false nails during the course. Tell your prescriber if the nail becomes painful or inflamed, if you have diabetes or poor circulation, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
