Description
Avomine tablets contain promethazine teoclate 25mg, a sedating antihistamine used to prevent and treat travel sickness, and also used for nausea, vomiting and vertigo. It blocks the histamine signalling involved in the vomiting reflex and in the sense of balance. For a journey, a tablet is usually taken the night before travel, or one to two hours before setting off on a shorter trip, and on a long journey a further tablet may be taken as described in the leaflet.
Drowsiness is common and can carry over to the following day, so do not drive or use machinery until you know how it affects you, and avoid alcohol. Other effects include a dry mouth, blurred vision and difficulty passing urine. Speak to the pharmacist if you have epilepsy, glaucoma, liver problems, an enlarged prostate, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and check the leaflet for the minimum age.
