Description
This is a home pregnancy test in strip format, two tests per pack. It detects human chorionic gonadotrophin, hCG, a hormone produced once a fertilised egg has implanted. The strip is dipped into a urine sample for the time stated in the instructions and the result is read within the stated window; reading it later can give a misleading result.
A first morning sample is the most concentrated. A positive result should be followed by contacting a midwife or doctor. A negative result taken very early may simply mean the hormone level is not yet high enough, so testing again in a few days is usual if a period has still not started. Fertility treatments containing hCG can affect the result.
