Description
Bonjela Adult is an oral gel containing choline salicylate, a salicylate with local anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving action. It is used for the symptomatic relief of common mouth ulcers, sore spots caused by dentures or braces, and other minor irritation of the mouth and gums in adults. A small amount is applied to the affected area with a clean fingertip and massaged in, no more often than the leaflet directs, because a salicylate is absorbed through the lining of the mouth.
Oral gels containing choline salicylate are not for children and young people under 16, because of the association between salicylates and Reye’s syndrome. Do not use it if you are allergic to aspirin or to another salicylate. Speak to a pharmacist or dentist if an ulcer lasts longer than three weeks, if ulcers keep returning, or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or already taking a salicylate.
