Description
Curanail contains amorolfine 5%, an antifungal medicated nail lacquer for mild fungal infection of the nail. It is licensed for adults aged 18 and over where no more than two nails are affected and the infection involves the free end and sides of the nail rather than the base. The lacquer is applied once a week. File the surface of the affected nail with the file supplied, wipe the nail with an alcohol pad, then paint the lacquer over the whole nail with the reusable applicator and let it dry.
Use a file that has touched an infected nail only on infected nails. Treatment is slow because the nail has to grow out, taking around six months for a fingernail and nine to twelve months for a toenail. Speak to the pharmacist first if you have diabetes, reduced immunity or circulation problems, if the nail base is involved, or if the skin around the nail is inflamed.
