Description
DuoResp Spiromax contains budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid, with formoterol, a long-acting beta-2 agonist, in a dry powder device. The steroid reduces inflammation in the airways and formoterol relaxes the muscle around them, so it is used as regular treatment for asthma where a combination inhaler is appropriate, and in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Some asthma regimens use the lower strength as both the daily preventer and the inhaler taken when symptoms come on, but only where a prescriber has set that up and explained the daily limit. To take a dose you hold the device upright, open the mouthpiece cover until it clicks, then breathe in strongly and deeply. Rinse your mouth with water afterwards.
Tell your prescriber about heart rhythm problems, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, low blood potassium or a history of tuberculosis.
