Description
Etrivex contains clobetasol propionate 500 micrograms per gram, a very potent topical corticosteroid, in a shampoo base. It is licensed for the treatment of moderate scalp psoriasis in adults. It is applied to a dry scalp rather than in the shower: the shampoo is spread over the affected areas, left in place for the time stated in the leaflet, and then lathered with a little water and rinsed out thoroughly.
It is used once a day for a short course only, because very potent corticosteroids can thin the skin and can be absorbed through it. Do not cover the scalp afterwards and keep the product away from the eyes, eyelids and face; rinse with plenty of water if any gets in the eyes. Tell your prescriber if the scalp is infected or if the psoriasis has not improved by the end of the course.
