Description
Evorel patches deliver estradiol, an oestrogen identical to the one the ovaries make, through the skin. They are an oestrogen-only HRT, used for symptoms that follow the menopause. A patch is stuck to clean, dry, unbroken skin below the waist, usually on the buttock or hip, and changed twice a week, moving to a slightly different site each time.
Several strengths are made so that treatment can start low and be adjusted. Oestrogen given alone thickens the lining of the womb, so a progestogen is prescribed alongside if you still have a womb. HRT carries small increases in the risk of breast cancer, blood clots and stroke, and these depend on your age, your history and how long you use it.
Tell your prescriber about any unexplained vaginal bleeding, and continue with breast and cervical screening.
