Description

Fucidin Cream contains fusidic acid, an antibiotic that acts against the staphylococcal bacteria that commonly infect skin. It is prescribed for bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected cuts and grazes, and patches of eczema that have become infected. A small amount is applied to the affected area, usually three or four times a day, and the course is deliberately short: prolonged or repeated use encourages resistant bacteria, so treatment is normally reviewed after about a week rather than continued indefinitely.

Wash your hands before and after applying, unless the hands are the area being treated. Do not use it in or near the eyes. The cream contains ingredients that can cause local stinging or an allergic skin reaction in some people. Tell your prescriber if the area becomes more painful, red or swollen, if a fever develops, or if there is no improvement by the end of the course.
