Description
Johnson’s Baby Powder is a fine cosmetic powder that absorbs moisture and reduces rubbing where skin meets skin, such as in folds after a bath. It is shaken into the hand first, away from the baby, and then smoothed on, so that a cloud of powder is not created near the face. Breathing in loose powder can irritate a baby’s airway, which is the reason for that care.
The skin must be dry before powder is applied. Powder is not used on broken, weeping or sore skin, and not inside the nappy over an existing rash, where it clumps and holds moisture against the skin. This is a toiletry, not a treatment; a rash needs a barrier preparation, frequent changes and, if it persists, assessment.
