Description
Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo contains ketoconazole, an antifungal. Dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp are linked to a yeast that lives on the skin, and ketoconazole reduces it, easing the flaking and itching. The shampoo is worked into wet hair and scalp, left in contact for the time given in the leaflet, then rinsed out.
For treatment it is usually used twice a week for a short course; afterwards it can be used less often to keep symptoms from returning. Mild scalp irritation, dryness or a change in hair texture can occur. Keep it out of the eyes and rinse with water if any gets in. Speak to the pharmacist if the scalp is broken or weeping, if there is no improvement after the recommended course, or if you are treating a child.
