Description
Noriday is a progestogen-only pill containing norethisterone 350 micrograms. It contains no oestrogen, so it can often be used when a combined pill is not suitable, including while breastfeeding and by people who smoke over the age of 35. It is licensed to prevent pregnancy and works mainly by thickening cervical mucus so that sperm cannot pass through the cervix; it does not reliably stop ovulation.
One tablet is taken every day without a break between strips, at about the same time each day. Traditional progestogen-only pills of this type have a narrow window: if a tablet is more than three hours late, extra precautions are needed. Irregular bleeding, spotting or absent periods are common. Tell your prescriber if you have had breast cancer, liver disease, an ectopic pregnancy or unexplained vaginal bleeding. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
