Description
Relestat eye drops contain epinastine hydrochloride 0.5mg/ml. Epinastine is an antihistamine that also stabilises mast cells, so it blocks histamine at the H1 receptor in the surface of the eye and reduces its release. The drops are used for the itching, redness and watering of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. The usual dose is one drop into each affected eye twice a day.
Wash your hands, tilt your head back and pull down the lower lid to make a pocket for the drop, and do not let the dropper touch the eye or lashes. The drops contain a preservative, so remove contact lenses before use and wait before putting them back in. Vision may blur briefly after a drop, so wait until your sight is clear before driving.
Tell your prescriber if the eye becomes painful, if vision changes, or if symptoms do not improve.
