Description
Tioconazole nail solution is an azole antifungal applied directly to the nail. It is used for fungal infection of the fingernails and toenails, including infection caused by dermatophytes and by yeasts. The solution is painted over the whole nail and the skin immediately around it, including under the free edge of the nail, using the applicator brush supplied.
Treatment continues over several months, because an infected nail has to grow out before the infection is fully cleared; the leaflet gives the frequency of application and the expected length of the course. Keep the nail trimmed short and file away loose material as it grows. Irritation, redness or soreness of the skin around the nail can occur.
Do not use it on skin affected by another condition without advice. Tell your prescriber if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have diabetes, or if the nail becomes painful or starts to discharge.
