Description
A digital thermometer for taking a temperature at home. The probe is held in place until the reading settles, which is usually signalled by a beep, and the temperature is shown on a small display. Most digital thermometers of this type can be used under the tongue or under the arm, and some are also suitable for rectal use in infants; the instructions supplied with the unit say which sites apply.
Clean the probe before and after each use as the instructions describe. A temperature reading is one sign among several and is read alongside how the person looks and behaves. A raised temperature in a baby under three months, or one that persists, needs medical advice.
