Description

Uniroid HC ointment combines hydrocortisone, a mild corticosteroid, with cinchocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic. The corticosteroid reduces inflammation, swelling and itching, and the local anaesthetic numbs the area to ease pain and soreness. It is used for internal and external haemorrhoids and for other painful conditions around the anus, such as anal fissure and itching.

A small amount is applied to the affected area, usually morning and night and after a bowel movement, using the applicator supplied for internal use. Wash and dry the area first, and wash your hands afterwards. Because it contains a corticosteroid, it is used for a short course rather than continuously, and treatment is reviewed if symptoms persist.

Tell your prescriber if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if there is bleeding you have not had assessed, or if the area becomes more painful or shows signs of infection.
