Description

Zindaclin is a gel containing clindamycin, an antibiotic applied to the skin, in a base that includes zinc. It is licensed for the treatment of acne vulgaris, and works mainly on the inflamed spots by reducing the bacteria involved in them. Apply a thin film once daily to the whole affected area after washing and drying the skin, rather than to individual spots.

Avoid the eyes, lips, the inside of the nose and broken skin, and wash your hands after applying it. Mild dryness, redness or a stinging feeling can occur. Acne is slow to respond, so continue as directed rather than stopping after a few days. Topical antibiotics are usually prescribed for a limited period, and often alongside benzoyl peroxide or a topical retinoid, to reduce the chance of bacterial resistance.

Tell your prescriber if you develop persistent diarrhoea, or if your skin becomes very sore or does not improve.
