Description
AirFluSal MDI is a pressurised inhaler containing salmeterol, a long-acting beta-2 agonist, with fluticasone propionate, an inhaled corticosteroid. The steroid reduces the underlying inflammation in the airways while the long-acting bronchodilator keeps them open, so the inhaler is used as regular treatment for asthma in people for whom a combination is appropriate.
It is taken every day, usually morning and evening, whether or not you have symptoms, and it is not for relieving a sudden attack; keep a short-acting reliever inhaler for that. Shake it before use, breathe out gently, then press and breathe in slowly. Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out afterwards to reduce the risk of oral thrush and hoarseness.
Tell your prescriber if you have heart or thyroid problems, diabetes, a history of tuberculosis, or if your reliever is needed more often than before.
