Description
Differin Cream contains adapalene, a retinoid-like medicine applied to the skin, and is licensed for acne vulgaris where there are blackheads, whiteheads and inflamed spots. Adapalene works on the way skin cells are shed inside the pore, so existing blockages clear and fewer new ones form. The cream base is less drying than the gel, which can suit drier or more easily irritated skin.
Apply a thin film once daily in the evening to the whole affected area after washing and drying the skin, avoiding the eyes, lips, nostrils and broken skin. Dryness, redness, peeling and stinging are common in the first weeks and usually settle; applying it every other day at first can help. Adapalene increases sensitivity to sunlight, so use sun protection and avoid sunlamps.
It should not be used in pregnancy or if you are trying to conceive. Allow several weeks of regular use before judging the effect.
