Description
Evorel Sequi is a sequential combined hormone replacement therapy supplied as two kinds of patch used in turn over a 28-day cycle. The first patches contain estradiol alone; the second contain estradiol with norethisterone acetate, the progestogen that protects the lining of the womb. Patches are used in the order set out on the pack, each applied to clean, dry skin below the waist and changed twice a week, with a slightly different site each time.
Because the progestogen is given for only part of the cycle, a bleed is usually expected towards the end of each pack, so this treatment suits women whose periods stopped recently. HRT carries small increases in the risk of breast cancer, blood clots and stroke, depending on your age, your history and how long you use it. It is not a contraceptive.
