Spedra

Description

Spedra contains avanafil, a PDE5 inhibitor licensed for erectile dysfunction in adult men. It relaxes the blood vessels in the penis so that more blood can flow in during sexual arousal; sexual stimulation is still needed for it to work. One tablet is taken shortly before sexual activity, and no more than one dose should be taken in 24 hours.

It can be taken with or without food, though a heavy meal may delay the effect. Avanafil must never be taken with nitrates such as glyceryl trinitrate or isosorbide, or with nicorandil, because together they can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Care is needed with alpha blockers used for blood pressure or prostate symptoms.

It is not suitable with certain heart conditions or after a recent heart attack or stroke. Headache, flushing and a blocked nose are the most common side effects. Seek urgent care for an erection lasting more than four hours.
