Description
Spiolto Respimat combines tiotropium, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist, with olodaterol, a long-acting beta-2 agonist. The two work on the airway muscle in different ways to keep the airways open, and the inhaler is used as regular maintenance treatment in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is not a reliever and does not treat a sudden attack; keep a short-acting reliever inhaler for that.
The Respimat device gives a slow, fine mist over about a second, so you can breathe in steadily and deeply. It is used once a day at about the same time. Take care not to let the mist get into your eyes, as it can cause blurred vision, eye pain or seeing haloes. Tell your prescriber if you have glaucoma, prostate problems or difficulty passing urine, heart disease, an irregular heartbeat or an overactive thyroid.
