Description
Telfast tablets contain fexofenadine hydrochloride, a non-sedating antihistamine. It blocks the H1 receptor and reduces the effect of histamine released during an allergic reaction. The 120mg strength is used for the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, a runny or itchy nose and itchy watery eyes, and the 180mg strength for chronic idiopathic urticaria.
One tablet is taken once a day with water. Fruit juice can reduce how much is absorbed, so avoid taking it with apple, orange or grapefruit juice, and leave a gap of about two hours after an antacid containing aluminium or magnesium. Drowsiness is uncommon, but see how the tablets affect you before driving. Tell your prescriber if you have kidney or liver problems, a heart rhythm problem, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
