Description
Wind-Eze gel capsules contain simeticone, an antiflatulent used for trapped wind and the bloating, fullness and colicky discomfort that go with it. Simeticone works physically rather than chemically: it lowers the surface tension of small gas bubbles held in the gut contents so they merge into larger bubbles that can be passed more easily.
It is not absorbed from the gut, which is why it has very few interactions with other medicines and is generally well tolerated. The capsules are swallowed whole with water, typically with or after meals and before bed, without exceeding the maximum daily number on the pack. Trapped wind that keeps returning, or abdominal pain that is severe, persistent or comes with vomiting, weight loss or a change in bowel habit, should be assessed rather than treated repeatedly at home.
