Description
Combodart capsules contain dutasteride 0.5mg with tamsulosin hydrochloride 0.4mg, two medicines for an enlarged prostate. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that gradually shrinks the prostate over months and lowers the risk of sudden inability to pass urine. Tamsulosin is an alpha blocker that relaxes muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, easing the flow of urine within a few weeks.
One capsule is swallowed whole, without chewing or opening it, about 30 minutes after the same meal each day. Dizziness on standing can occur, particularly early on, so get up slowly. Dutasteride lowers the PSA blood test result, so tell any doctor arranging that test that you take it, and do not donate blood until the period stated in the leaflet has passed after stopping.
Leaking capsules should not be handled by women who are pregnant. Tell your eye surgeon before any cataract surgery.
