Description
Incruse Ellipta contains umeclidinium, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist. It blocks the nerve signals that tighten the muscle around the airways, holding them more open through the day, and it is used as regular maintenance bronchodilator treatment in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is not a reliever and does not treat a sudden attack; keep a short-acting reliever inhaler for that.
The Ellipta is a dry powder device: open the cover to load a dose, breathe in steadily and deeply through the mouthpiece, then close the cover, and take care not to open the cover without inhaling, as that wastes a dose. It is taken once a day at about the same time. Tell your prescriber if you have glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, difficulty passing urine, or a heart rhythm problem, and contact them if your breathlessness becomes harder to manage.
